Suspense the tool of great novels and movies can be used in the hands of politicians, full of themselves, to abuse the population. Take the case of Museveni of Uganda who often creates controversial issues that keeps the country in a state of anxiety for as long as it suits him. And then, of course, the suspense madam of this last months has been Hillary Rodham Clinton. Even today, when by all measurements she has lost the primary, she still keeps talking tough and no letting out what she will do. The question on everybody’s mind is: Will she bow out or will she just suspend her campaign but take the fight all the way to the Democratic convention?
Now, every democratic leader is walking gingerly around her lest they make Hillary angry and, by extension, the millions of white broads who might scuttle Obama’s election chances in November. Judging from the devilish smiles Hillary is enjoying every bit of her power.
What I ask myself is: all this for what? Is she really the best hope for the Democratic Party and America? She thinks she is. And worse still: that Catholic priest might be right that she just doesn’t like that, of all people, a Negro is taking the nomination away from her. And we all have to pay for it with suspense and anxiety.
